DUNCAN MacPHERSON
Signature from the former ice hockey player who mysteriously died in
the Stubai Alps
Signature: "Duncan/McPherson/#13" in purple ink, 5x3 card.
Duncan MacPherson (1966-1989) was a professional ice hockey player,
drafted by the New York Islanders in 1984. While he never played in the NHL, he
played mainly in the minor leagues for the Springfield Indians (AHL) and the
Indianapolis Ice (IHL). In 1989, MacPherson was offered a player-coach position
in a Scottish league, and he planned to take the deal. When he did not appear in
Dundee, Scotland on his scheduled arrival, a search went out for him. The only
clues to his disappearance were the borrowed car found parked at the Stubai Ski
Resort (Austria) where MacPherson rented a snowboard, and the last reported
eye-witness', a ski resort employee, account that MacPherson left to the
mountains alone early before sundown. The case went cold for 14 years until a
ski resort employee discovered a glove sticking out of the ground in the
mountains, which was discovered to be MacPherson's frozen body. Even with
his body found, there were still no definite explanations to his death. Another
point of speculation in the mystery is the fact that MacPherson claimed, just
a little while before his disappearance, that he was approached by the CIA to be
recruited. Lightly toned. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine
condition.
