DUSTIN HOFFMAN Black and white publicity photograph of Dustin Hoffman in a scene from the film Agatha (1979) Inscribed Printed Photograph signed in Ink: "Dustin/Hoffman/[drawn heart]/To Ann", in purple ink, b/w, 8x10. Still from the 1979 film, Agatha. ©Warner Bros. Captioned at lower margin: "DOGGED NEWSMAN - Dustin Hoffman portrays Wally Stanton, a debonair American journalist, in 'Agatha,' a mystery-romance about what might have happened during the actual 1926 disappearance of the great mystery writer Agatha Christie. Vanessa Redgrave starred in the title role. Michael Apted directed the motion picture from a screenplay by Kathleen Tynan and Arthur Hopcraft." Hoffman starred in this film the year before he won the Academy Award for Best Actor for Kramer vs. Kramer (1979). The emergence of Dustin Hoffman (b.1937) heralded the arrival of a new era of Hollywood stardom. Diminutive, wiry and unassuming, he was anything but the usual matinee idol, yet he quickly distinguished himself among the most popular and celebrated screen performers of his generation. He has won two Academy Awards for Best Actor (Kramer vs. Kramer, 1980, and Rain Man, 1989) in addition to earning five Oscar nominations (The Graduate, 1968; Midnight Cowboy, 1970; Lenny, 1975; Tootsie, 1983; and, Wag the Dog, 1998). Recently, Hoffman was seen as Ben Stiller's (Greg Focker's) father in Meet the Fockers (2004), the sequel to the highly successful Meet the Parents (2000). Minor surface creases (most not evident head on), some at hair and chin. Otherwise, fine condition.
