DUSTIN HOFFMAN Black and white publicity still of the actor in the Italian film Alfredo, Alfredo (1972) Printed Photograph signed in Ink: "Dustin Hoffman", in red felt tip, b/w, 9¾x8 overall, image 9¾x7¼ (one surface). Still from the 1972 Italian film, Alfredo, Alfredo, in which Hoffman starred as a meek bank teller in the title role. ©1972, Rizzoli Films. Captioned at lower margin. Hoffman learned his lines in Italian for this film, only to discover that it was being filmed in English and redubbed. The emergence of Dustin Hoffman (b.1937) heralded the arrival of a new era of Hollywood stardom. Diminutive, wiry and unassuming, he was anything but the usual matinee idol, yet he quickly distinguished himself among the most popular and celebrated screen performers of his generation. He has won two Academy Awards for Best Actor (Kramer vs. Kramer, 1980, and Rain Man, 1989) in addition to earning five Oscar nominations (The Graduate, 1968; Midnight Cowboy, 1970; Lenny, 1975; Tootsie, 1983; and, Wag the Dog, 1998). Recently, Hoffman was seen as Ben Stiller's (Greg Focker's) father in Meet the Fockers (2004), the sequel to the highly successful Meet the Parents (2000). Lightly creased at upper and lower edges. Minor surface creases and scratches (not evident head on). Otherwise, fine condition.
