In full: "I cannot but be pleased at your having thought of me on the present occasion, and shall therefore readily accept the charge you intend to trust me with, in common with two such prudent Co-adjustors-/ I am/ Yours very sincerely, [signature]/ [difficult to decipher]/ Send word to the B of trade when you can give your lecture on the new duty bill: & I will let [names difficult to decipher] know." Henry Bathurst, 3rd Earl Bathurst (1762-1834) was a British Member of Parliament who held many positions in the government including Lord President of the Council (1828-1830), Foreign Secretary (1809), Secretary of War and the Colonies (1812-1827) and President of the Board of Trade (1807-1812). Corners of letter have been deliberately rounded. Toned. Corners and edges worn. Sheet contains a handwritten note toward bottom edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
