ED ASNER
Signed letter from Asner discussing the delay in results of the recent presidential election for the Screen Actors Guild due a computer error and voicing his opinions on Reagan's decision to invade Grenada
Typed letter signed: "Ed", in blue felt tip, 8½x11. November 4, 1983. North Hollywood, California. In part: "Dear John, Good to hear from you and I'm sorry for the, for me relatively short delay in answering…Still awaiting the results of the election because of a screw-up with the mailing house; their computer didn't send ballots to some 200 members, and discovering it several days later, we had to postpone the deadline for those members.  But I'm not in a lather over it since I'm told I'm a shoe-in…Don't need to tell you how I feel about Reagan's invasion (aka "rescue mission") to Grenada, but I sure hope he makes enough (non-nuclear) mistakes that someone will be able to whip his ass in the election". Former President of the Screen Actors Guild (twice) andthe winner of six Emmys, Ed Asner (1929-2021) was best known as the TV news editor on The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970-1977). When Moore ceased production in 1977, Asner took his Lou Grant character into an hour-long dramatic weekly about a Los Angeles newspaper. The show's title, of course, was, Lou Grant (1977-1982). Asner has over 250 movies and TV shows to his credit, including voiceover work on numerous cartoons, such as the 2009 hit Up. Normal mailing folds. Light surface creases. Corners slightly worn and creased. Fine condition.
