embossed Office of the Mayor letterhead to Ms. Stella K. Hershan, New
York, N.Y. In full: "The next time you see me in the Village do please
be sure to stop and say hello! It was very thoughtful of you to send me your
book A Woman of Quality. I have long been an admirer of Eleanor Roosevelt
and appreciate having the book which has become a part of our City Hall Library.
Many thanks." Accompanied by the original typed envelope bearing a
pictorial postmark of a "Big Apple". Democrat ED KOCH (1924-2013) was
Mayor of New York City (1978-1989) after representing New York in
the U.S. House of Representatives (1969-1977).A colorful mayor
who often greeted constituents with the question, "How am I doing?". Koch has
written several fiction and nonfiction books, most recently Buzz: How to
Create It and How to Win With It (2007), STELLA K. HERSHAN, born in
Vienna, Austria, was the author of a number of books and articles, including
two biographies of Eleanor Roosevelt: A Woman of Quality - Eleanor
Roosevelt (1970) and The Candles She Lit: The Legacy of Eleanor
Roosevelt (1993). Lightly creased with folds, not at signature. File
nicks at blank left edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
