Ed McMahon sends an autograph note to Phyllis Diller on a
postcard.
Autograph Note signed: "Ed", 6x4 picture postcard. Fort Myers,
Florida, circa 1981. Cancelled 12-cents postage, postmark date illegible. To
actress/comedienne Phyllis Diller, Los Angeles, California, in full:
"Everywhere we go they're talking about you! Love. Victoria &"
Comment is a reference to the color photo of two Roseate Spoonbills on verso. Ed
McMahon (1923-2009), who previously worked with Johnny Carson on the TV quiz
show Who Do You Trust? (1958-1962), then served as Carson's announcer
on The Tonight Show (1962-1992), with his famous introductory line,
"Heerre's ... Johnny". McMahon hosted other TV quiz and variety programs,
including the talent contest Star Search (1983-1995). He is
perhaps equally famous for being a spokesman for the Publishers' Clearinghouse
contest. Fine condition.
