Typed Letter Signed: "Love!/Ed", 1p, 7¼x10¼. No place, 1995 June 9. On his personal letterhead to actress/comedienne Phyllis Diller, Los Angeles. In full: "Pam and I would like to thank you for your help with The Concert. We hope you had a chance to attend. If you did, you know that a spectacular show was presented in that magnificent structure, the Faith Dome. We had, as they say, 'something for everyone!' Talent ranged from the young sounds of Shanice and Tevin Campbell to the high spiritual sounds of Tramaine Hawkins and the beautiful artistry of Kenny G and David Foster. It was truly a night to remember! Thanks to your financial assistance, we raised well over $100,000.00 that evening! The money will be used for scholarship assistance for a lot of young people, giving them the education they need for the 21st century. Everyone connected with the endeavor thanks you! All good wishes. Cordially". Ed McMahon (1923-2009), who previously worked with Johnny Carson on the TV quiz show, Who Do You Trust? (1958-1962), then served as Carson's announcer on The Tonight Show (1962-1992), with his famous introductory line, "Heerre's ... Johnny". McMahon hosted other TV quiz and variety programs, including the talent contest, Star Search (1983-1995). He is perhaps equally famous for being a spokesman for the Publishers' Clearinghouse contest. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
