ED "TOO TALL" JONES
The 6'9 defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys signs this photograph with best wishes.
Inscribed printed photograph signed in ink: "To John/Best Wishes/Ed 'Too Tall' Jones". B/w, 8x10 printed caption in lower margin. Ed Jones, born in Jackson, Tennessee in 1951, was an imposing 6-feet-9-inches tall in his prime, earning him the nickname "Too Tall". If you're a football team, you stick a guy that big on your line, and that's exactly what the Dallas Cowboys did. Jones was a defensive end with the Cowboys from 1974 to 1978 and from 1980 to 1989 and was part of the team's Doomday Defense squad of the 1970s. He loved sacking the quarterback and had a career total of 57.5 sacks, with a season high of 13 sacks in 1985. (Actually, he had more than that, as sacks weren't officially recorded until 1982, halfway through his career). A three-time Pro Bowler (1981-3), he was also a member of the Cowboys roster when they won Super Bowl XII. Fine condition.
