Documentary Letter signed: "Eddie Albert", 2 pages, 8½x11, front and verso. Also signed
"Armina Marshall" on behalf of the Theatre Guild. Albert commits to appear in a single TV
broadcast under the sponsorship of US Steel, on which he will receive top billing. Best known
for his role as city slicker turned farmer Oliver Douglas on TV's Green Acres (1965-1971)
with Eva Gabor as his wife, EDDIE ALBERT (1906-2005) had made his movie debut in
Brother Rat in 1938; his costars included Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman. Nominated for
Best Supporting Actor in 1953 (Roman Holiday) and 1972 (The Heartbreak Kid), Albert's
film career included Airport '79, Escape to Witch Mountain, The Longest Yard, Captain
Newman, M.D., The Longest Day, The Sun Also Rises, The Teahouse of the August Moon,
Oklahoma!, You're in the Navy Now and Hit Parade of 1947. According to Internet Movie
Database, Albert appeared on at least a dozen different TV programs in the year he signed this
form, mostly the teleplays which dominated what has been called "the Golden Age of
Television." ARMINA MARSHALL, who first appeared on the Broadway stage in 1924,
became a prominent playwright and producer. The Theatre Guild, which she and husband
Lawrence Langer founded in 1919, still flourishes, having produced 228 Broadway plays
as of 2002. Marshall and Langer received a Tony for the stage version of Sunrise at
Campobello in 1958 and a special Tony (1961) for organizing the first repertory group to
tour the world for the U.S. State Department, at President Kennedy's behest. Staple holes at
