career took off with popular songs of the 1920s, including "If You Knew Susie",
"Makin' Whoopee" and "Ida". A star in many big budget musical comedy films of
the 1930s, Cantor was a popular radio star of the 1940s and hosted
a TV variety show in 1955. Actor, vocalist, instrumentalist, director,
producer and occasional emcee DICK POWELL (1904-1963), who began his
career on the big screen in 1931, appeared in a number of feature films,
including 42nd Street (1933), Stage Struck (1967), Mrs.
Mike (1949) and Susan Slept Here (1954). The founder and President of
Four Star Television, a prosperous TV production company, Powell was married to
actresses Joan Blondell (with whom he appeared in two films) and June Allyson.
ROY ROGERS (1911-1998), born Leonard Slye, formed the Sons of the
Pioneers and was appearing in Westerns from 1935. By the early 1940s, he had
succeeded Gene Autry as "King of the Cowboys". Rogers later starred in
The Roy Rogers Show (1951-1957) with his wife, Dale Evans (whom he
married in 1947), horse, Trigger, and dog, Bullet. Stage actor HENRY
O'NEILL (1891-1961) made his film debut in 1930, appearing in a long list of
films, including Madame Du Barry (1934), Jezebel (1938),
Brother Rat (1938), Santa Fe Trail (1940), The Virginian
(1946) and The Wings of Eagles (1957, his last film). Lightly creased and
