EDDIE FISHER
The singer and actor inscribes a card in 1953, the year he began starring on the TV variety show, Coke Time (also called Coke Time with Eddie Fisher), which would win a Golden Globe as Best TV Show five years later.
Autograph Note signed: "Hi Jim -/Good Luck/Eddie Fisher/[illegible]" on verso of 5x3 ruled index card. Name and brief biography typed at upper margin. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso: "Eddie Fischer (sic) Jan. 18, 1953/R.K.O. Palace". In 1953, Fisher began hosting Coke Time, also known as Coke Time with Eddie Fisher (1953-1957), which would win a Golden Globe for Best TV Show in 1958. He also appeared on The Ford 50th Anniversary Show, an episode of This is Your Life honoring Eddie Cantor, Fisher's mentor and the man responsible for Fisher's early exposure on TV, and an episode of The Colgate Comedy Hour. Although he is best remembered today for his marriages to, and divorces from, Debbie Reynolds, Elizabeth Taylor and Connie Stevens, Eddie Fisher (1928-2010) was a very popular singer and TV personality in the 1950s. He had several hit records in the early 1950s, including "Any Time", "Tell Me Why", "I'm Walking Behind You" and "Oh! My Pa-pa". Fisher also hosted a series of musical variety shows (1953-1959), winning a Golden Globe for Best TV Show (Coke Time) in 1958 and being nominated for Emmy Awards for Best Male Singer in 1955 and 1956, and he made one movie each with Reynolds (Bundle of Joy, 1956) and Taylor (Butterfield 8, 1960). Slightly creased and soiled. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
