singer/songwriter Eddie Floyd (b. 1935) formed a vocal group called
The Falcons in 1955, anticipating groups like The Temptations and The Four
Tops. The group's original lead singer was Wilson Pickett, who went on to a
solo career with Floyd writing many of his songs. Floyd wrote for other greats
of the genre, including Otis Redding, and had his own hit single, "Knock On
Wood," which has been covered by over 100 artists from Count Basie to David
Bowie. Floyd, who worked mainly with Stax Records, released his most recent
album, Eddie Loves You So, in 2008. Fine condition.
