Program signed: "Eddie Mathews", 30 pages, 8x10. Program for the 50th Anniversary
Celebration of the Baseball Hall of Fame at Cooperstown, New York, June 9-11, 1989.
Signed on front cover. In 1953, the future member of the 500 HR Club hit 47 homers for
the Milwaukee Braves, establishing a single-season record for third basemen (since
broken by Mike Schmidt) as he won the National League home run title. Mathews
(1931-2001) played for the Braves in all 3 cities (Boston, Milwaukee and Atlanta), and was on
two World Championship teams (1957 Braves and 1968 Tigers). He appeared on the
cover of the first issue of Sports Illustrated (1954). A 12-time All-Star, he was inducted into
the Hall of Fame in 1978. Fine condition.
