EDDIE MURPHY. TLS: "Eddie Murphy", 1p, 7¼x10½. No place, 1989 October 25. On his personal imprinted stationery to Dale C. Olson. In full: "It is my pleasure to invite you to join me on Wednesday evening, November 15th, from 6 to 8, at L'Ermitage Restaurant, 730 N. La Cienega Boulevard, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the United Negro College Fund's 'Lou Rawls Parade of Stars' telethon. The 'Parade of Stars,' which airs nationally on Saturday evening, December 30th, is America's biggest year-end variety television special. Proceeds from this telethon, the only one in support of higher education, benefit UNCF's 41 private historically black colleges and universities. As honorary chairman of the 'Parade of Stars,' I hope you will join Lou Rawls and me for an evening of good food, and good company to celebrate a very good cause. I look forward to personally greeting you on November 15th." Eddie Murphy was 19 when he was hired as one of the backup performers on the NBC comedy weekly Saturday Night Live. He became SNL's prime attraction due to his choice characterizations of Gumby, Mr. Robinson, Tyrone Green and Buckwheat. After Murphy was hastily added to the cast of the 1982 comedy 48 Hours, an eight-million-per-picture movie star was born. Murphy has appeared in numerous films, including Trading Places (1983), Beverly Hills Cop (1984, 1987), The Golden Child (1986), Coming to America (1987) and The Nutty Professor (1996). Folds, horizontal fold touches signature. Fine condition.
