EDDIE "ROCHESTER" ANDERSONSlip of ruled paper signed by Eddie Anderson, who played Jack Benny's butler Rochester, to Billy "Froggy" Laughlin of Our Gang. The two worked together on the 1943 Our Gang short Calling All Kids. Autograph note signed "To Froggie/Hello From/Rochester". 4¾x4¾ ruled paper. "Froggie" is probably BILLY "FROGGY" LAUGHLIN (1932-1948), who is best remembered as gravelly-voiced Froggy from Hal Roach's Our Gang shorts. Laughlin and Anderson are both listed in the credits for the 1943 Our Gang short Calling All Kids, with Laughlin as Froggy and Anderson as the voice of Buckwheat (played by Billie Thomas). Originally hired to play a one-time guest spot as a porter on an episode of Jack Benny's radio show (Train Ride to Hollywood, March 28, 1937), comic actor EDDIEANDERSON (1905-1977) struck such a chord with audiences that his association with Benny lasted 20 years. Best known for his role as "Rochester", Benny's butler, Anderson also starred with Benny in the classic films Man About Town (1939), Buck Benny Rides Again (1940) and Love Thy Neighbor (1940). Anderson also appeared in Three Men on a Horse (1936). Lightly toned, soiled, stained and creased. Show-through from red ink stain on verso touches signature. Pinholes in center of paper (does not touch signature). Adhesive residue at top edge (does not touch signature). Lightly torn at right edge. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
