EDDIE "ROCHESTER" ANDERSON
5x7 sepia photograph of the comic actor who played Jack Benny's foil on radio, television and film
Photograph signed: "Eddie/Anderson". Sepia, 5x7. Originally hired to play a one-time guest spot as a porter on an episode of Jack Benny's radio show ("Train Ride to Hollywood", March 28, 1937), comic actor Eddie Anderson (1905-1977) struck such a chord with audiences that his association with Benny lasted 20 years. Best known for his role as "Rochester", Benny's butler, Anderson also starred with Benny in the classic films Man About Town (1939), Buck Benny Rides Again (1940) and Love Thy Neighbor (1940). Depicted as a cowboy here, Anderson also appeared in Three Men on a Horse (1936). Corners creased. Lightly bowed. Otherwise, fine condition.
