The Black comic actor signs his autograph as his most famous character, Rochester and Walter Pidgeon signs on the back of an album leaf.
Inscribed Signature: "To Colleen/Hello From/Rochester" and on verso "Greeting to/Colleen/Walter Pidgeon", 6x4 album leaf. EDDIE ANDERSON (1905-1977) wasoriginally hired to play a one-time guest spot as a porter on an episode of Jack Benny's radio show ("Train Ride to Hollywood", March 28, 1937), but comic actor Eddie Anderson struck such a chord with audiences that his association with Benny lasted 20 years. Best known for his role as "Rochester", Benny's butler, Anderson also starred with Benny in the classic films Man About Town (1939), Buck Benny Rides Again (1940) and Love Thy Neighbor (1940). Anderson also appeared in Three Men on a Horse (1936). Canadian actor WALTER PIDGEON (1898-1984), who had his first leading roles in silent films, earned Best Actor Academy Award nominations for Mrs. Miniver (1942) and Madame Curie (1943). He had prominent roles in many other successful films, including How Green Was My Valley (1941), The Bad and the Beautiful (1952), Forbidden Planet (1956), Advise and Consent (1962) and Funny Girl (1968). Pidgeon received a Tony nomination as Best Actor in a Musical for Take Me Along (1960). Rounded right corners. Lightly foxed at blank edges. Irregular left edge from removal from bound book.
