The Black comic actor signs his autograph as his most famous character, Rochester.
Signature: "Rochester", 2¼x2¾ piece of paper attached to 6x4¼ album leaf. Year "1939" written in unknown hand at lower right margin. Originally hired to play a one-time guest spot as a porter on an episode of Jack Benny's radio show ("Train Ride to Hollywood", March 28, 1937), comic actor Eddie Anderson (1905-1977) struck such a chord with audiences that his association with Benny lasted 20 years. Best known for his role as "Rochester", Benny's butler, Anderson also starred with Benny in the classic films Man About Town (1939), Buck Benny Rides Again (1940) and Love Thy Neighbor (1940). Anderson also appeared in Three Men on a Horse (1936). Lightly creased. Irregular left edge from removal from bound book. Overall, fine condition.
