Typed Lyrics signed: "Eddy/Arnold/1990" and "Hank Cochran"", 1p, 8½x11. Lyrics to "Make the World Go Away", by Hank Cochran. Credited with taking hillbilly music to the city, Eddy Arnold (1918-2008) was one of the most popular country artists of all time, virtually dominating the charts in the 1940s and 1950s. Initially influenced by cowboy singers such as Gene Autry, Arnold charted 28 number one hits and has sold over 85 million records. His top recordings include "I'll Hold You in My Heart (Till I Can Hold You in My Arms)" (21 weeks at number one), "Bouquet of Roses (19 weeks at the top of the charts), "What's He Doing in My World?" and "Make the World Go Away". He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1966. Hank Cochran (born 1934) was a child of the great depression. After running away from an orphanage in Tennessee, he ended up hitchhiking between Mississippi and New Mexico with his uncle who taught him to play guitar. He moved to Nashville in 1960 and played at bars where he was instrumental in encouraging others to look at Willie Nelson. Although he released five albums in his own voice between 1963 and 1980, Cochran was best known as a country songwriter. He wrote two of Patsy Cline's biggest hits: "I Fall To Pieces" and "She's Got You". Ray Price and Eddie Arnold both hit with "Make the World Go Away" and Burl Ives' Cochran hits include "A Little Bitty Tear". No. 1 hits for George Strait, Merle Haggard, Ronnie Milsap and Mickey Gilley were also penned by Cochran. Lightly creased at corners. Fine condition.
