EDDY DUCHIN
Popular pianist poses wearing a tuxedo in sepia 8x7 photograph, signs
name in black ink
Photograph signed: "Best wishes/ Eddy Duchin" in black ink.
Sepia, 8x7. Eddy Duchin (1910-1951) formed a pop combo in 1931
that achieved great popularity in the mid-1930s because of his distinctive
piano playing and engaging introductions to songs. He specialized in "sweet",
sentimental music. Duchin spent World War II on a destroyer in the Pacific.
He was 40 when he succumbed to leukemia. The Eddy Duchin Story,
with Tyrone Power in the title role, was nominated for four 1957 Academy Awards.
Eddie's son Peter Duchin became a popular pianist (and novelist). Irregularly
cut. Creased throughout. Worn and soiled. Adhesive stains on verso. Otherwise,
fine condition.
