Check signed: "Edgar Bergen", 8¼x3. Los Angeles, California, 1967 January 17. Check No. 1461, drawn on his personal account at the Farmers & Merchants Office, Security First National Bank, Los Angeles, payable to Hunter & White for $101.50. The year he signed this check, Bergen appeared in the feature film, Don't Make Waves. Ventriloquist Edgar Bergen (1903-1978) and his dummy Charlie McCarthy were first heard over Rudy Vallee's radio program on December 17, 1936 and were an immediate hit. Bergen was promptly signed, and Bergen and McCarthy starred on NBC and later on CBS from 1937-1956. Bergen was the father of Emmy-award winning actress Candice Bergen.
