EDGAR BERGEN
Edgar Bergen signs a document authorizing the William Morris Agency, Inc. to accept delivery of "all such checks and/or sums of money" from 20th Century Fox.
Typed Document Signed: "Edgar Bergen", ¾p, 8½x9½. No place, 1964 August 21. In letter form to 20th Century Fox. Bergen authorizes the William Morris Agency, Inc. to accept delivery of "all such checks and/or sums of money" from the studio. The authorization was to remain in effect until written notice of revocation. The month after he signed this document, Bergen appeared on an episode of the TV series, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. In 1964, he also appeared on the small screen in the TV series Burke's Law (two episodes), The Joey Bishop Show and The Greatest Show on Earth, and was featured in the made-for-TV movie, The Hanged Man. Ventriloquist Edgar Bergen (1903-1978) and his dummy Charlie McCarthy were first heard over Rudy Vallee's radio program on December 17, 1936 and were an immediate hit. Bergen was promptly signed, and Bergen and McCarthy starred on NBC and later on CBS from 1937-1956. Bergen was the father of Emmy-award winning actress Candice Bergen. Lightly creased with folds, horizontal fold touches the upper loops of the "E" and "d" in Edgar and the "B" of Bergen. Pinhead-size stain at lower left edge, nicked at upper blank left edge. Ink notes and check mark (unknown hand) at lower margin. Overall, fine condition.
