Program Signed: “Edgar Nelson/ 5-6-35” in black ink, 4p integral leaf (page count includes
cover), 4¼x5½. Newspaper photo,1¼x2¼, of the actor affixed to cover. Program of the
Annual Concert Freeport Choir Singers at the Masonic Auditorium on May 6, 1935 for the
benefit of King's Daughters Children Home. Edgar Nelson (1882-1963) was an actor
known for appearing in a few movies, the most notable of which include Way Down East
(1920), The Chicken in the Case (1921), and Laughs in the Law (1933). He also racked up
an extensive list of Broadway credits, appearing in productions of Sailor, Beware!
(1933-1934), Shoot the Works (1931), and Cross-town (1937) to name just a few. Tear
along outside centerfold that extends inward about a half-inch, affecting the cover. Heavily
toned, with staining on cover (resulting from adhesion of a now missing item) toward bottom
edge. Paper loss toward top edge of 4th page. Newspaper clippings affixed to interior.
