Collection composed of 1) Costume, unsigned. Black satin wrap-around flapper dress with attached pearl strand. Worn by Adams during her impersonation of Helen Kane, singing "I Wanna Be Loved by You," part of her 4-week show at the newly opened Tropicana hotel/casino in 1957, shortly after its 1957 opening. 2) Unsigned photo of her performing in the dress. 3) Book, unsigned, 6¼x9½, 366 pages. Sing a Pretty Song: the "Offbeat" Life of Edie Adams, Including the Ernie Kovacs Years by Edie Adams and Robert Windeler. N.Y: William Morrow and Company, 1990. Hardcover with dust jacket. All three items were part of the Ernie Kovacs/Edie Adams estate. Singer and comedian EDIE ADAMS (1927-2008), born Elizabeth Edith Enke in Kingston, Pennsylvania, appeared on TV's popular Ernie Kovacs Show in the early 1950s, and married Kovacs in 1954 (The couple was married until his death in 1962). Known to television audiences for her commercials for Muriel Cigars, she also appeared in several feature films, including The Apartment (1960) and The Best Man (1964). Adams, who received a Tony Award as Daisy Mae in Li'l Abner (1955), portrayed Mae West in a TV biography of her late husband, Ernie Kovacs: Between the Laughter (1984). Adams was a talented impersonator. Fine condition.
