Elegant floor length, mink-trimmed cape, worn by her during a 1957 Las Vegas show at the newly opened Tropicana, accompanied by a photo of her wearing the cape and by a copy of her autobiography. All three items were obtained from the estate of the late Ernie Kovacs and Edie Adams
Collection composed of: 1) Costume, unsigned. Elegant, stage worn, floor length hooded cape trimmed in white mink and lined in cream satin. 2) unsigned photo of Adams wearing the costume while holding the leash of a lion cub and singing on stage at a Las Vegas show at the new Tropicana casino (1957). 3) Book, unsigned, 6¼x9½, 366 pages. Costume, photo and book were both obtained from the Ernie Kovacs/Edie Adams estate. Singer and comedian Adams, (1927-2008), born Elizabeth Edith Enke in Kingston, Pennsylvania, appeared on TV's popular Ernie Kovacs Show in the early 1950s and married Kovacs in 1954. (They were married until his death in 1962.) Known to television audiences for her commercials for Muriel Cigars, she also appeared in several feature films, including The Apartment (1960) and The Best Man (1964). Adams, who received a Tony Award as Daisy Mae in Li'l Abner (1955), portrayed Mae West in a TV biography of her late husband, Ernie Kovacs: Between the Laughter (1984). Her autobiography covers her early life, her years with Ernie Kovacs, and her struggle with indebtedness after his death. The dress needs cleaning but is otherwise in fine condition. Book is in fine condition.
