Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Saul/Lots of Luck/Edith
Fellows". B/w, 8x10.Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature:
March 21, 1940.
Edith Fellows (1923-2011) first appeared on film at age
seven (1930). A popular child actress though never a top-billed star, she
had prominent roles in Bing Crosby's Pennies From Heaven (1936) and the
four Five Little Peppers movies (1939-1940). She appeared in a few of the
talking Our Gang comedies. She retired from film in 1942, only to return in
character roles and guest TV spots in the 1980s. She played costume
designer Edith Head in the TV film Grace Kelly (1985). Saul
Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of
film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While
other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with
snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Small soiled
spot at top edge. Lightly rippled. Otherwise, fine condition.
