EDITH FELLOWS and DAVID HOLT
The two actors pose and sign together in candid 4x6 photograph
Inscribed photograph signed: "Clint/ Much love/ Edith Fellows" in silver ink and "David/ Holt" in blue ink. Color, 4x6. EDITH FELLOWS (1923-2011) first appeared on film at age seven (1930). A popular child actress though never a top-billed star, she had prominent roles in Bing Crosby's Pennies From Heaven (1936) and the four Five Little Peppers movies (1939-1940). She appeared in a few of the talking Our Gang comedies. She retired from film in 1942, only to return in character roles and guest TV spots in the 1980s. She played costume designer Edith Head in the TV film Grace Kelly (1985). DAVID HOLT (1927-2003) was a 1930s child-star, groomed to be the male version of Shirley Temple; Holt famously impressed actor Will Rogers who encouraged his family to move to California and with his help start young David Holt's career, but upon arriving in California, Rogers refused to see them. Although Holt experiences some success in films in productions such as The Adventure of Tom Sawyer (1939), Courage of Lassie (1946) and The Pride of the Yankees (1942). His downfall accumulated when reduced to star in the cheap drugs-scare melodrama She Shoulda Said "No"! at the age of 22, after which he retired from acting and worked as a songwriter and musician, with moderate success. Ink notes on verso in unknown hand. Otherwise, fine condition.
