Photograph signed: "Edmond H. Fischer". B/w, 4x4¾. Edmond Fischer (b. 1920) was born
in China to French mother and Austrian father. When he began teaching at the University
of Washington in 1950, he started working with Edwin Krebs. Together, the two men earned
the 1992 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their discovery of a biological
regulatory mechanism, the reversible protein phosphorylation, that affects nearly all
human cells. He was inducted into the National Academy of Sciences in 1973. Fine
condition.
