Show bill cover inscribed and signed: "To Welyn Payne/With best wishes/Edmund Gwenn" and "Best wishes/To Welyn Payne/Heather Hagil." B/w brown-toned, 4p, 6¾x9¼, 1 sheet folded. Cover from The Playbill for the Plymouth Theatre from an unknown play. EDMUND GWENN (1875-1959), was the winner of the 1948 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor (as Kris Kringle in Miracle on 34th Street). To date, he is the only actor to have won an Oscar for playing Santa Claus. British actress HEATHER GRACE ANGEL (1909-1986) was on stage with the Old Vic at age 17. Her starring film roles included Berkeley Square (1933), The Informer (1935), The Last Of the Mohicans (1936) and five Bulldog Drummond films in the 1930s. Later, she played mostly supporting roles and provided voices for several Disney movies of the early 1950s, including Peter Pan. On TV, she appeared frequently on Family Affair (1966), and came out of retirement for a role in the TV miniseries Backstairs at the White House (1979). Vertical creases (not near signature). Lightly worn at corners. Otherwise, fine condition.
