Typed letter signed: "Ed Jones" as U.S. Representative from Tennessee, 1p, 8½x11. Washington, D.C., 1981 March 25. On letterhead of Congress of the United States, House of Representatives to Mr. John S. Bush, Jr., Vice President-Governmental Affairs, United States Gypsum Company, Washington, D.C. In full: "Thank you very much for your recent letter and copy of your 1980 Annual Report. I appreciate your bringing this to my attention. I am pleased to see that you have had a successful and productive year, and I hope that your good record will continue in the years to come. Again, thank you for writing. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me in the future if I can be of service or assistance in any way whatsoever. With kindest regards and best wishes, I am, Sincerely". Edward "Ed" Jones (1912-1999) was a Democratic U.S. Representative from Tennessee from 1968-1989. Jones, who was involved in various aspects of the agriculture field, operated a farm both before and after serving in office (he was one of the few farmers in Congress in the late 20th century). Lightly creased with folds, lower horizontal fold underlines "Ed" and touches the descender of the "J". Pin holes at upper left margin, date stamps at upper right edge. Fine condition.
