B/w, 8x10 overall, 7¼x9 image, one surface. ©1943, Universal Pictures Co., Inc. In 1977, the year he signed this photograph, Quillan appeared in the made-for-TV movie Mad Bull and was a guest star on three TV series: Chico and the Man, Little House on the Prairie (two episodes in two different roles) and Police Woman. In the year this photograph was copyrighted, he was seen on the big screen in six films: Melody Parade, It Ain't Hay, Here Comes Kelly, Hi'ya, Sailor, Alaska Highway and Follow the Band. American actor Quillan (1907-1990) made his first major feature-film appearance when he co-starred in The Godless Girl (1929). He went on to star in such films as The Sophomore (1929), Noisy Neighbors (1929), Big Money (1930) and The Tip-Off (1931). Among his more memorable credits as a supporting actor were Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), Young Mr. Lincoln (1939), The Grapes of Wrath (1940) and It Ain't Hay (1943). Quillan remained active into the 1980s, appearing as a regular on the TV sitcom Julia (1969-1970). Creased at blank margins, lower margin lightly soiled, upper margin has minor smudges. Signature has low contrast in places but is legible. Minor surface creases, scratches and striations (most not evident head on), some touch facial image. Stamped on verso (no show through). Overall, fine condition.
