Sir:- I hope Mr. Moody valuable in sights [sic] may be offered at
Cincinnati,- although I dissent from his final con clusions [sic] The
very important statistics and other facts which he presents
will alone, as I believe,- do the great part of the necessary
[illegible],- if properly presented,- as I have no doubt they will be,-
before the country. So soon as mechanic and [illegible] and
those dependent on know that forty workmen now do the work that one hundred did
twenty years ago,- so soon t they will begin to turn from
the mechanic arts and manufacture to other
arts moe easily production In particular, as I believe, men
will return to that simple business in which a man's own labor
was is rewarded di-rectly by food for his family, - and perhaps
by their clothing, - without his attendance dependence, almost
as a beggar, on the legislation and social pr other provisions
of half the world, outside their own country - I see no advantage to be
gained for these purposes, either by local legislation or the laws of labor, or
by the action of Government Commissions. Resply Yours". Hale
