EDWARD EVERETT HORTON
Horton signed this slip of paper "Cordially" in Hollywood in 1935. Comes mounted on a black card.
Autograph sentiment signed "Cordially/Edward Everett Horton/Jan 25 -35/Hollywood/Calif.". 5¼x3¼ sentiment mounted on black cardstock. Often mistaken for an Englishman, Brooklyn-born Horton (1886-1970) began his film career in silent movies. As manager of Los Angeles' Majestic Theater in the late 1920s, he helped train several silent film leading men to use their voices properly in stage work, preparing them for talking pictures. Horton played supporting roles in the 1930s and 1940s, most notably in the Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers musicals at RKO. During this period, he also became a radio actor. Horton's voice was heard as the narrator of the "Fractured Fairy Tales" segment on the ABC cartoon series Rocky and His Friends (1959-1961), and he starred on ABC's F Troop (1965-1967) as Hekawi Indian tribe medicine man Roaring Chicken. Two binder holes on left edge. Lightly toned and creased. Mounting remnants and paper loss on left and right edges of sentiment, with small piece torn out of upper right corner. Edges of sentiment and card are irregular. Sentiment has been folded once and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
