One month before his 1958 death in an airplane crash, character actor Ed Hinton signs an application for AFTRA membership on behalf of his daughter, child actress Darcy Hinton.
Document signed: "Ed Hinton (father), 2 pages, 6½x9, 1 sheet, front and verso, with 6½x3¼ carbon copy receipt No. 006526 LA stapled at top corners. Hollywood, California, 1958 October 12. Application of Darcy Hinton for membership in the American Federation of Television and Radio Actors, Los Angeles local. She appeared in a Chevy commercial that same day. After many small parts in feature films, Edward Hinton (1927-1958) established himself as a familiar character actor on TV series of the 1950s, Westerns in particular. On October12, one month after signing this form, he died in an airplane crash on Santa Catalina Island. All three of Ed Hinton's children did some acting. Darby Hinton, born only 14 months before his father's death, played Daniel Boone's son on the TV series, and went on to adult roles and also film production. Darcy Hinton made TV appearances in 1958 on Sky King (in a separate episode from that featuring her father) and Death Valley Days. In 1960, she was seen on Leave It to Beaver and Johnny Staccato. Fifteen years later, now credited as Darcy Hinton Cook, she appeared in two episodes of Hawaii Five-O. Edward's third daughter, Daryn Hinton, also appeared on screen in children's roles. Lightly creased at corners. Otherwise, fine condition.
