Magazine photograph signed: "Ted/Green", in purple ink, color,
5¼x7½ affixed to cardstock (2 surfaces). Edward Jospeh "Terrible Ted" Green
(b. 1940) is a retired NHL and WHA player. He played for 11
seasons with the Boston Bruins (1960-1972) in the NHL, before transferring to
the WHA and playing for 7 seasons with the New England Whalers (1972-1975) and
the Winnipeg Jets (1975-1979). A physical player, Green was a powerful
defenseman, often getting into scuffles during games. During his time with the
Boston Bruins, Green was involved in a fight with St. Louis Blues forward Wayne
Maki. During the fight, Green was struck in the head with a stick, resulting
in a skull fracture and brain damage. The injury kept him out for the
remainder of the season, which caused him to miss the Bruins Stanley Cup win of
the season, though his name was later engraved onto the cup. He later
transferred to the WHA and became the New England Whalers first team
captain, and would remain in the WHA until it's collapse in 1979, retiring
that same year. After retiring, Green began coaching, serving the Edmonton
Oilers as both assistant and head coach for a number of years. Most
recently, he has served as assistant coach for the New York Rangers. Image
lightly worn. Corns and edges lightly worn. Ink note (in unknown hand) on verso
(no show-through). Otherwise fine condition.
