(1910-1993) was an American journalist and broadcaster who wrote for numerous
newspapers, including The Seattle Star, The Chicago Daily News, and Collier's Weekly
before joining CBS and then ABC Radio as a reporter. He was awarded the George Foster
Peabody Award in 1956 for his exceptional broadcasting work. For ABC, he covered the
collision of ocean liners the S.S. Andrea Doria and S.S. Stockholm and years later the
