E. PHILLIPS OPPENHEIM
Typed Letter signed: "E Phillips Oppenheim", 1 page, 6¾x8. Adelphi Terrace, W.C. 2 (London, England) to Clarence Bissell, South Manchester, Connecticut. In full: "I have much pleasure in appending my autograph hereto, as requested in your letter of July 8th. With best wishes, Very truly yours". English author Edward Phillips Oppenheim (1866-1946), "the prince of storytellers", was an extremely popular author of mystery and spy novels, as well as short fiction. His works include The Great Impersonation, Lions and Lambs, The Double Traitor and short story collections such as Shudders and Thrills. Most of Oppenheim's books portray fashionable characters in opulent settings, but he could write gritty underworld stories as well. Many of his books were made into films, beginning in 1915. Slightly soiled. Mounting remnants and pencil note on verso show through lightly, the pencil note touching "E Ph" of signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
