"Thank you for your letter conveying your best wishes to me on my being elected Government

Avenue (at the corner of Whitgift Avenue and Haling Park Road) for about three years during the
Second World War. The house was called 'Glenrosa'./ I have not seen "The times" article about
me to which you referred. I am sorry I missed it./ Best wishes./ Yours faithfully". Sir Edward
Trenton Richards (1908-1991) was a lawyer and Bermudian politician. An outspoken critic
of segregation, Richards was the first black Bermudian to hold the highest office of
government, serving as the 2nd Premier of Bermuda. From 1971 to 1973 he headed the
United Bermuda Party. Irregularly cut. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
