E. V. LUCAS. ALS: "E.V. Lucas", 1p, 5¼x6¾. The St. Regis, New York, 1934 March 25. To Mr. Leigh. In full: "Many thanks for your suggestion but I don't lecture. I am sincerely". British author and critic Edward Verrall Lucas (1868-1938) wrote many essays on a wide range of subjects. Noted for his gently satiric humor in his essays, Lucas also wrote art criticism, travel books and novels including Over Bemerton (1908), Old Lamps for New (1911), Saunterer's Rewards (1933) and Only the Other Day (1936). He is well known for his biography of writer Charles Lamb (1905). Circular hole at upper left at hotel emblem. Mounting remnants on verso of blank integral leaf. Fine condition.
