Signature: "E.W. Seymour/ Connecticut" in black ink. 7¼x2¾ clipping. Edward Woodruff (1832-1892) was a United States Representative from Connecticut, as well as a member of the prominent political Connecticut family, son of Origen Storrs Seymour and great-nephew of Horatio Seymour. After studying law at Yale, Seymour served as a member of the State House of Representatives (1859-1860, 1870-1871), and for the State Senate (1876). He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1883 and would go on to serve two terms, after which he was appointed a judge of the Connecticut Supreme Court. Irregularly cut. Left edge frayed and toned. Small pinpoint stains throughout. Otherwise, fine condition.
