Photograph signed: "Sincerely/Edward Woodward". B/w, 3½x5½ overall, image 3½x4¾ (one surface). British stage, screen and television actor and singer Edward Woodward (1930-2009) is best known for his role as New York City Robert McCall on the TV series, The Equalizer (1985-1989). He made his stage debut in 1946, and Woodward debuted in films in Where There's a Will in 1955. He would go on to appear in a number of feature films, including Becket (1964), Young Winston (1972), The Wicker Man (1973), Callan (1974, reprising his character from his 1967-1972 TV series), "Breaker" Morant (1980), King David (1985), Aladdin (1992, voice of the Sultan) and Hot Fuzz (2007). Woodward has also enjoyed a prolific TV career from 1957, when he appeared as Rev. Posset on the TV series, Emergency-Ward 10. He has since appeared on a long list of both British and American TV series, and Woodward has been seen in made-for-TV movies and miniseries, including The Man in the Brown Suit (1988), Over My Dead Body (1990, on which he originated the role of Maxwell Beckett, which he reprised in the 1990-1991 TV series of the same name), Gulliver's Travels (1996) and Messiah (2001). Woodward, who also had his own TV series, The Edward Woodward Hour, was appointed an OBE (Officer of the British Empire) in 1978. Slightly creased at corners. Minor surface creases and impressions (not evident head on). Fine condition.
