EDWIN A. WEINSTEIN
The neuropsychiatrist, who made controversial claims about the mental health of Presidents Wilson and Reagan, pens this note with best wishes.
Autograph Note signed: "For Bruce David Weiss/with best wishes/Edwin A. Weinstein M.D./13 March 1982", 5x3. Edwin A. Weinstein (1909-1998), a neuropsychiatrist at Mount Sinai Medical Hospital in Manhattan, was best known for his outspoken views on the mental condition of Presidents. He wrote a "medical and psychological" biography of President Woodrow Wilson in 1981, addressing how Wilson's physical and mental health affected his Presidential decisions. While Ronald Reagan was still President, Weinstein provoked another controversy by claiming that the President was showing early signs of Alzheimer's disease, a claim White House doctors denied. Reagan would disclose a fairly advanced case of the affliction in 1994.) Weinstein, who also looked at health issues involving Presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy, argued that a neurologist should be a part of every Presidential medical team. Corners slightly worn. Ink mark. Fine condition.
