splendid opinion she had about him and his work
Typed Letter Signed: “Edwin C Hill” in iron gall ink. 5½x8½. Affixed to a 8½x11½ green
sheet of paper. One page. Addressed to: Miss Corinne B. Manning, 2200 19th Street,
Washington, D.C. Dated: May 15, 1933. Place: New York City. In full: “My dear Miss
Manning: Your gracious letter with its generous praise of my talks over the air is gratefully
acknowledged and deeply appreciated. Messages such as the one you have been good enough to
send me afford me the greatest encouragement and I shall do my utmost to deserve the splendid
opinion in which you hold me. Sincerely yours, Edwin C Hill”. Edwin C Hill (1884-1957) was
an American newsman who graduated from University of Indiana. As one of the New York
Sun's star reporters he covered centers of interest around the world. Hill became the
director of newsreels and wrote syndicated newspaper columns. He was fond of riding,
golf and his bull terrier. His flair for human interest won him a wide following. Toned and
soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
