Edwin Hubbell Chapin (1814-1880) was a Universalist minister who led congregations in Richmond and Boston before settling in New York City in 1848. A skilled orator and prolific author, Chapin was identified with the Broad Church movement, which emphasized reason and good works, and denied that salvation was dependent upon acceptance of Jesus Christ. He was editor of the Christian Leader. Lightly toned. Pin-sized stains at lower left corner. Adhesive residue on verso. Otherwise fine condition.
