Autograph letter signed: "Edwin Newman" in black ink. 1 page,
8½x11. Written underneath typed letter written to Newman from a fan, Charles
Irion of Phoenix, Arizona. In full: "Dear Charles: Glad you enjoyed
the book. Right now, my work is mostly lecturing, but also some TV as a free
lance, and even a bit part in a movie now and then - most recently "The Pelican
Brief"". Edwin Newman (1919-2010), a respected broadcast news reporter
who moderated Presidential debates in 1976 and 1984, was most known for
his work with NBC's radio and televised news programs. Specializing in
breaking news, it was Newman's voice that first made the announcement on NBC
radio that President Kennedy had been shot, and he would also anchor the
news coverage on Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination. He covered several
other hot button topics during his time with NBC, being the go to guy when a new
story broke out. After leaving NBC, he worked in daytime television, being
nominated for 3 and winning one daytime Emmy. Normal mailing folds. Lightly
