The son of violinist Efrem Zimbalist and opera star Alma Gluck, EFREM ZIMBALIST, JR., born in 1918, made his film debut in 1949's House of a Stranger. Although he appeared in a number of films - including the 1991 action-flick satire Hot Shots!, which showcased his comedic flair - Zimbalist achieved stardom on the small screen. From 1958 to 1964, he starred as suave private detective Stuart Bailey on 77 Sunset Strip, which earned him one of his two Emmy Award nomination, and in 1965, hebegan his nine-season run as Inspector Lew Erskine on The FBI, which earned him one of his three Golden Globe nominations. He later appeared as con artist Daniel Chalmers on his daughter Stephanie's weekly series Remington Steele (1982-1987) and as the voice of faithful butler Alfred on numerous Batman animated series in the 1990s and 2000's, and has guest starred in a number of other series, including Babylon 5 (1997). Zimbalist also appeared six times on Broadway between 1945 and 1956 and produced four Broadway productions between 1947 and 1950. A radio and stage actress since early childhood, POWERS (1931-2007) was discovered by Ida Lupino, who starred Powers in her 1950 film Outrage. That same year, Powers was signed to star opposite Ferrer in Cyrano de Bergerac. She was praised for her beauty, sensitivity and naturalness in portraying Cyrano's great love, Roxanne. It remains her best-known film. After a life-threatening illness nipped her career in the bud, Powers spent the majority of her subsequent career appearing in low budget Westerns and adventure films, due to difficulty in obtaining production insurance, and on TV. Lightly toned, creased and bowed. Show-through touches Zimbalist and Power's signatures. Adhesive residue around photograph and advertisement on front. Neatly torn from binding at left edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
