Heckart handwrote, signed and dated this letter to a Mr. Parish in 1965. In it, she says that she would like to be involved in a production of The Little Foxes if her current project fell through.
Autograph letter signed: "Eileen Heckart", 2p, 5¾x7¾, 1 sheet front and verso. 1965 January 20. Addressed to "Mr. Parish". In full: "Dear Mr. Parish: I am currently negotiating a Spring production, which may not come to pass. If not, I shall be quite interested. Do you have a particular show in mind? 'Little Foxes' interests me. Sincerely,". Eileen Heckart (1919-2001) appeared on Broadway from the mid-1940s. She earned a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award nomination for The Bad Seed (1956), and then won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Butterflies Are Free (1972). Heckart, who appeared in a number of TV series and made-for-TV movies, garnered Emmy Awards for Win Me a Place at Forest Lawn (1967) and Love and War (1974). She won a special Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2000. Lightly toned, stained, soiled and creased. Signature is lightly smeared. Folded once and unfolded. Otherwise, fine condition.
