Shown in this 5x7 photograph gazing up towards the lights while hanging on to railing
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To JHS73/Best wishes/Elaine Stritch/12-22-61". B/w, 5x7. Stritch (1925-2014) hit the Broadway lights in 1946 and has since been the toast of Broadway and the West End, collecting a number of trophies on both continents over the years with such award-winning turns in Bus Stop, Sail Away, A Delicate Balance, Show Boat and Company. She has also played supporting roles in films and TV since the late 1940s, including Peter Falk's secretary (Trials of O'Brien, 1965) and Ellen Burstyn's mother (The Ellen Burstyn Show, 1986). Stritch's movie credits include critically acclaimed senior roles in September (1988) and Cocoon (1990). At age 76, she is still throwing out zingers on stage and recently won the Tony, Drama Desk, Obie, Outer Circle Critics and New York Drama Critics awards for her one-woman musical memoir Elaine Stritch: At Liberty (2002). Lightly creased. Fine condition.
