ELEANOR REISSA
The stage actress and director writes Editor John Willis, delighted to be featured in Theater World
Autograph letter signed: " Eleanor Reissa" in black ink, 1 page 4x4¼. No place, no date. In full: "Dear Sir/Just a note to tell you how I enjoy the Theatre Worlds. I am/especially pleased when I have earned a place in the book. Regardless, thank you for your good work. Sincerely,". Eleanor Reissa (born in Brooklyn, New York) is a stage actress, director, choreographer and writer. Reissa has appeared in several Off and Off-Off Broadway shows throughout her career, including One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Cowgirls (as director). She made her Broadway debut in 1990 with Those Were The Days in which she starred, directed and choreographed. The show earned Reissa a Tony Award Nomination for Best Director. John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Lightly toned. Fine condition.
